Artist Rutherford Chang is buying up every copy of the Beatles’ White Album he finds and this is Alan Dunn’s economic cover version, purchasing copies of the Paul Young No Parlez LP (these are the first 100). This sculpture is an evolution of an ongoing project that explores compulsion, impulse and the weight, duration and compression of sound: together, these 51 minutes of audio and packaging weigh 20kg, as opposed to a similar-length mp3 being around 60mb that would use 1.2kg of CO2 during its lifetime.
